Christian Perez is a percussion educator and performer based in Chicago. He studied at VanderCook College of Music. There he learned from professors Kevin Lepper, Dr. James Yakas, and Bret Kuhn.
Christian has taught at several high schools across the Chicagoland area, including Victor J Andrew High School, Lockport Township High School, and currently Romeoville High School. Since 2018, he has been the Ensemble Director and Front Ensemble Coordinator at Pi Percussion, working closely with Adam Hill and Steven Vonderohe. Most recently, he was a Front Ensemble Instructor at The Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps (2023-2024).
As a performer, Christian has had the opportunity to be part of groups like the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps (2015-2016) and Matrix Indoor Percussion (2017), and has enjoyed playing with The Chicago Wind Symphony and Lux Cantorum.
When he’s not teaching or playing music, Christian works as a bike messenger in downtown Chicago, combining his passion for music with an active lifestyle.
