Jim is best described as a “Serial Social Entrepreneur” and is nicknamed the “Swiss Army Knife”. He applies his knowledge and experience to help leaders build businesses and programs in the corporate, non-profit and educational areas.


He quickly rose through the ranks to become the Worldwide Marketing Manager at Hewlett Packard and retired at 42. He moved to non-profit management to become the President and CEO of the Sacramento Mandarins.


Jim built successful programs including the CalAsian Foundation’s Catalyst and NextGen Programs. He mentors hundreds of corporate and non-profit leaders. He created the Mandarins Music Academy that gives the gift of music to over 1,300 students at 45 schools. He was awarded the American Leadership Forum Exemplary Leader, Elk Grove Volunteer of the Year, Kings Community Impact, SacState Community Impact, Sacramento Bee Change Makers, Drum Corps International Director of the Year and Mandarins Hall of Fame.


Jim received a BS Electrical Engineering at UC Berkeley and MBA at the University of Washington.

He is happily married to Jo Ann for over 30 years. His twin boys, Nick and Tim are Eagle Scouts, Mandarins Alumni, graduates of UC Irvine and UC Davis and work in accounting and consulting.
