Key Poulan, IV is a trombone and euphonium player from Fresno, California with over 15 years of experience playing in concert bands, orchestras, marching ensembles, chamber groups, and jazz bands. He graduated with a BA in music education from Fresno State. He currently teaches elementary band, orchestra, choir, classroom music, and assists with marching band in Clovis Unified School District.

Key’s drum corps experience as a performer began with the Sacramento Mandarins from 2017-2019, was contracted with the Santa Clara Vanguard for 2020/2021, and returned to the Mandarins as the trombone soloist in 2021 for his concurrent age-out with the two corps. After aging out, he returned as a trombone and baritone technician for the Mandarins and has worked here since 2022.

Key firmly believes in instilling the attitude, skills, and knowledge required to inspire students to become great musicians and people on and off the field. He also believes it is important to coach students in their individual areas for growth in music to make the whole group the best they can be.

Outside of music, Key is a reef and freshwater aquarist, builds with LEGO, and loves a good book.
