Sebastian Martinez is an active performer, educator, and arranger for many programs around the United States. He has taught numerous high school and independent programs in Mississippi and Southern California, as well as battery arranging for world class ensembles. This is Sebastian's 2nd year on staff with the Mandarins.
Primarily a snare drummer, Sebastian began his marching career with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019, where he was a 5-year member through the 2023 season. He served as the battery section leader for his final 2 seasons, one of which Bluecoats were awarded their first ever Fred Sanford high percussion award in 2022. Sebastian also was a member of Monarch Independent in 2020 and Pulse Percussion for the 2022 and 2024 seasons, earning two WGI World Class gold medals. During his career as a performer, Sebastian had the privilege of being instructed by many notable educators in the activity, including John Mapes, Taha Ahmed, Connor Yasuda, Tom Rarick, Joe Hobbs, Roger Carter, Ryan Kilgore, Tony Lymon, and Ryan Saul.
Sebastian received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Mississippi State University, and he is also a proud endorser of Vic Firth and Zildjian.
