Travis Pruitt is currently in his 10th year serving as the Associate Director of Bands at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas. His duties include conducting the Hebron Symphonic Band and Concert Band 2, assisting the Wind Symphony and Concert Band 1, team teaching the marching band, teaching low brass classes and assisting with cluster middle schools. Bands under his direction are consistent UIL Sweepstakes Winners. The Wind Symphony performed as the 2022 Texas Music Educators Association 6A State Honor Band. Additionally, the Symphonic Band is a multi-year Citation of Excellence National Winner from The Foundation for Music Education.
In 2023, the Hebron Marching Band was named the University Interscholastic League 6A State Bronze Medalist. In 2022, the band earned the Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional Grand Championship, the UIL 6A State Silver Medal and performed as the Invited Band in the Tournament of Roses Parade. In 2021, the band won the UIL 6A State Championship and the BOA Super Regional Grand Championship. Also, the band received the Bronze Medal and Outstanding Music Performance caption award in three consecutive appearances at the BOA Grand National Championships in 2015, 2019, and 2023. The band captured the Silver Medal at the BOA San Antonio Super Regional in 2017 and at the UIL 6A State Contest in 2016 and 2020. Mr. Pruitt just completed his 12th season as a member of the brass staff for the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, the 2016 and 2024 Drum Corps International World Champion and winner of the 2024 Jim Ott Award for Best Brass Performance.
From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Pruitt served as the Director of Bands at the Clovis High School Freshman Academy in Clovis, New Mexico. Under his direction, the CHSFA Band was named the New Mexico Music Educators Association State Honor Band in 2012, won multiple "Best in Class" awards and earned consistent Superior ratings in Concert and Sight-Reading. In addition, he assisted with the Clovis High School Marching Band and middle school feeder programs. During his seven years in Clovis, the CHS Marching Band won five NM State Championships. As a performer, Mr. Pruitt made the finals of the US Army Field Band Euphonium audition in 2008, was awarded 2nd prize in the Ekstrand Graduate Performance Competition in 2007 and won a DCI World Championship with the Santa Clara Vanguard in 1999.
Mr. Pruitt holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from New Mexico State University, where he graduated with honors and a Master of Music degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He maintains professional affiliations with TMEA, TBA, Phi Beta Mu and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Travis lives in Arlington, TX with his wife Charlayne and their Weimaraner puppy, Willem.
